PAYROLL AUTHORS GROUP (PAG)
The Payroll Authors
Group (PAG) is a division of the ITA established in 1989 and
aims to:

Liaise with
government departments and statutory bodies to maintain awareness of
legislative changes.

Ensure that
payroll software incorporates legislative changes.
-
Advise government
departments and statutory bodies of most practical ways to implement
changes.
-
Review the draft
version of the IRP10 Guidelines for Employees’ Tax and make suggestions
on how it can be made more understandable for users.
-
Act as a
mouthpiece for the Payroll industry.

Develop
inter-industry relationships with users and related services such as
pension funds, medical aid schemes, unions, bargaining councils
etc.
The following
are some of the more recent PAG
Achievements:
-
Assisted SARS
with the design and layout of the electronic IRP5.
-
Successfully
lobbied the phasing in of the new IRP5.
-
Pointed out
errors in the IRP10 to SARS which resulted in SARS correcting their
notice to employers.
-
Assisted SARS in
clarifying definitions contained in IRP5 documentation.
